About

Pocket Verdict started as a group chat where a few of us kept recommending games to each other and arguing about them. At some point the arguments got long enough that we decided to write them down properly, and the site grew from there. We're a small independent team, not tied to any publisher or store.

Everything you read here comes from hands-on play. We don't review from trailers or press kits. A game gets covered only after someone on the team has spent real time with it, usually a week or more, long enough to see whether the first hour was a trick or a promise.

We pick games across every genre because our readers don't all want the same thing. Some mornings you want a three-minute arcade run, other nights you want a strategy map that eats your whole evening. We try to cover both honestly, including the rough edges.

When something disappoints us, we say so. When a small game surprises us, we make noise about it. That's really the whole mission.

Mikael Sørensen — Mikael has been writing about games for over a decade and still plays more on his phone than anywhere else. He handles most of the long reviews and keeps the team from arguing forever about ratings.
